Have you had the alternator volts checked ?

The new battery could be the culprit, if it needs coded to the car for battery management if fitted ?

If the volts are low, the battery management switches off certain things to save power .

The new battery may also have a dud cell, but the coincidence seems to be the new battery.

You could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and leave the car lights on to drain any memory settings.

If the battery needs coding??? it may take a while for the car to learn the settings for the new battery.

You should have 14.0 to 14.5 volts at alternator under load, all lights on & heater full blast ........................... and around the same voltage at the battery terminals

My lights have to be on (or at least set to AUTO) on the A5 and I thought my previous A4 was the same?

Red needles are always lit up though.

is this not correct?

Hi Gunnark,
the code you are talking about , is it somewhere in the menu , or is that a specialist job ?

No menu option for this, anyone with cable can check this one in your area:

Its cluster module 17

Needle/Scale Illumination (Term. 15 ON / Term. 58 OFF)

Needles OFF and Scales OFF
Needles OFF and Scales ON
Needles ON and Scales OFF
Needles ON and Scales ON

As were told before, in lights off all you get is needels even with last choise both on...as its like audi safety thing to tell driver its time to switch lights on, with b7 was possible to activate sidelight symbol in dash and keep illumination all the time, no such luck with b8!
