The other night my stereo in my R(98) reg transporter T4 (Diesel) stopped working, I soon noticed that the Cigar lighter and main beam warning light were also not working.
It soon came apparent that the left (passenger/nearside) headlight was only functioning on dip beam.
I put a jump wire from main beam pin on the working headlight across to the broken side and the warning light plus both headlights functioned correctly for the next few hours.
Then both main beams stopped working and also the main beam warning light.
The next day the stereo worked but when I turned the ignition of and back on it would not come back on.
I didn’t notice if the headlights worked correctly during this time.
So far I have concluded/tested the following…
Its NOT the bulbs
Its NOT any of the main fuses either under the bonnet or in the fuse box
The ignition switched wire for the stereo is dead (also NOT a fuse)
It is NOT a relay (T4 does not have a headlight relay)
It is not the connection box on the back of the ignition (replaced)
The stalk (switch) on the steering column is clicking as per normal and feels as though it is working fine.
(All other functions are working on the stalk)
Side lights work fine
Lights on buzzer is working fine
Wiring diagram or any advice much appreciated!
