hi Guys

I could do with a little assistance
The Touareg has come up with the emissions warning light
I've had it fault read and I'm being told that the fault is coming up as an inlet manifold runner on one side
The worrying thing is I'm being told that its recommended to change both sides and parts alone are over a grand

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Yes, you are being advised correctly. They are £564.30 a side and have to be set up. There are various bodges and fixes out there on tinterweb but you will struggle to get a garage to do them for you, too much messing around.

You need these and get an indy to fit...........£230 for a pair of remanufactured manifolds with 2 yr warranty....

But if you need the motors you have to add another £270.66 a side which means you are into £385.66 a side instead of the genuine VAG part at £564.30 and the VAG warranty includes labour costs and is valid anywhere in Europe.

The £230 is for a pair and includes motors. Since it's on an exchange basis you have the option to keep your own motors if you'd rather.

I would normally agree to buy genuine but at this price that's hard to justify.

So I've had the fault codes wiped and chucked a bottle of diesel additive through
500 miles later and a few clouds of black smoke and the emissions light hasn't come back on

Is it worth reading it again or if the fault is there will the light come back on

the light will come back if the fault returns.....and it probably will, but at least you're already informed.

Had a check under the engine cover last night
Drivers side actuator rod wasn't actually attached to the inlet manifold runner
So I re-attached it and the fault light came back on

Spoke to the garage today and they are collecting it on Monday and getting both sides replaced under warranty
