if you punch a hole in a boost pipe then it will be louder.

You will loose boost pressure and turbo will lack performance best way as someone else has already stated remove cat and install sports exhaust will sound nice then a friend of mine has done his cupra fr plus remap sounds like a jet

yes, i know, but it will do what the op asked and make his turbo louder. but, its a 1.9 tdi. removing the cat or dpf, since we don't know what age car the op has, could put him in hot water. installing a sports exhaust could also make his exhaust louder, and again, we don't know the age of the car, so if its after 2001 and thefore type approved, any increase over 1db could also get him into trouble, as could deleting the egr. he didn't say he wanted to make it faster, just increase the sound of the turbo, so putting a hole in a boost pipe would do this.

But you just don't get it if you put a hole in a boost pipe boost pressure will not be achieved as all pressure build up will be escaping from the hole and not being forced into the engine which is the purpose of having a turbo fool [emoji880]

If the car has a straight through exhaust it will sound like a jet and you will hear the turbo spool, diesels don't get much louder like patrols do when exhausts are changed. The engines are loud enough themselves [emoji1]

please don't call me a fool, no need for that, and yes i do get it, i know what happens if you have a boost leak, but the op only asked about making it louder, which a boost leak does, so shut up, stop digging a hole and chill out..

you asked how to make your turbo sound louder. you didn't ask for a reliable or sensible way of doing it, did you.

Well you're just a bundle of joy. Anyone asking anything on here can only expect people to help one another out and respond with a sensible answer. Is that not the whole reason forums exist? To share knowledge, in fact that's why the whole fricking internet was invented :smashfrea

forums are also for fun and laughs. the internet was actually invented for porn, not car forums..:firedevil

Fair do's, try a 'turbo whistler' off fleabay and find a way of installing it somewhere between the turbo compressor outet and engine, maybe down by the intercooler. Failing that find a paxman valenta, they had a pretty good spool up sound.
