Hi.
For my next lease car I am looking at an A3 sport back
I am looking for real world fuel figures for both these engines.

On the 1.4 can you specify if your engine is the COD type or not.

Thanks

I have the 1.4 COD. I get mid 40s on short runs and low 50s on long motorway runs.

Thank You for starting this. I also have to make the choice bettewen the 1.4 cod and the 1.6 TDI. hopefully in auto gearbox. I travel about 8k-10k miles a year and most of them being 10-30 mile trip. Any views or comments etc would be most appreciated

I recently read this: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/finding/2015/october/its-cheaper-than-petrol---but-should-everyone-go-diesel/?utm_campaign=editorial&utm_medium=email&utm_source=parkers-newsletter&utm_content=shouldyougofordiesel

There are a few factors to take into account but the article suggests that the majority of British private buyers / leases would be better off financially going for petrol. Personally, at your mileage (mabaudi), I'd be choosing petrol. But the sums may be different for company car drivers which is still very heavily weighted to CO2 emissions.

You should save around £500 to £600 per year on having a diesel car.

Colder weather will decrease your mpg on diesel, however remember that petrol cars will run richer as well, the choke will stay on longer.

Also the diesel car when new, will give slightly lower mpg until the engine opens up.
