2004 a4 b6 1.9 tdi cvt.
I was driving and noticed that my lights were on. I turned the rotary light switch to the ON position and the lights seemed to switch to the fog lights properly. When I turn off the engine the lights go off. The off position on the light switch leaves the lights on and I cannot turn them off.I have changed the switch and still have the same problem. Any ideas experts.

If its not the switch I think you will need diagnostics to check whats happening

Thank you for the reply. I have looked up the electrical system in the Haynes manual. They list a relay in the circuit as 17 'X' contact relay. Do you know where this relay is mounted so I can check it before I start looking at the power supply control unit.

Run web searches for central electronic control module.

If it was the switch that was faulty, now I have changed the switch would a fault code still be in the system?. If so how do I clear it.
Was the new switch the same part number ?
There are different revisions of switches.

The switch was identical. The part numbers matched each other. Does anyone know where the switch relay and power control module is located please.

Update on lighting situation. Looks like the vehicle electrical system control module has become faulty. I have been quoted £251.00 +vat by the local VW indy to supply the unit. Is it necessary to program this module once it is installed?. Part number is 8E0907 279F

Update on lighting situation. I bought a second hand module and fitted it today. Happy to report all lights now function correctly.
