Hi,
I am new to the forum. I have just bought a 51 plate Golf Mark 4 1.9 TDI S with 106000 miles. It had lots of history and recent money spent on the car. Passed MOT recently with few advisories relating to deteriorating rubber bushes. It drives very smoothly for an old car and I am impressed with the condition it's in.
This may be a small issue, but it's bugging me. There is a slight squeaky rattle coming from gearbox area at idle in neutral. The noise changes slightly or almost goes away when putting into gear at idle. When accelerating it goes away completely. I'm guessing this is potentially some kind of bearing issue? Is it important to get it sorted asap, and is it a big job? Any ideas?
I had car scanned with vcds only code that's stayed is about the engine coolant temp sensor which I have done before on an a4.
Any help much appreciated.
