I recently purchased this car (A4, B8, 2.0 TFSI, 2009 ), which turned out to have major oil consumption issue. It has ~125k miles, bought from a dealer in Germany for 6k (GBP).
What do you think from the pictures below? :) Should I blame the dealer for selling a faulty car?

Bad maintenance. Driven hard. Outcome. Cant really blame dealership. Unless it was smoking like a train

These era 2 litre tfsi engines have well documented high oil consumption issues, as with my mates A4 Avant, they were getting new pistons and rings under warranty, or case by case on older cars out of warranty.since you've already got it in bits, doubtful if the dealer will want to help. Blame previous owner for not taking it back to Audi under warranty.

True. Seen Audia3 with 130 000 that chomped oil. I replaced the rings and it was perfect. Been 4 years and still good

I hope the outcome will be satisfactory. Right now I agreed to change all the parts which need to be replaced - including :
rings ( pistons not yet. they need to take some measures )
cam followers
valves, seals from the cylinder head
timing belt
tb tensioner

The car previously took about 1 litre of oil / 500 KM which is about a quarter / 300 miles.
