Hi all,

pretty new to this forum, and a new Audi owner too:-)

Got my new A6 Avant (2.7Tdi Sline) last month, great car - loving it. Few things I need sorted with the car and I think from what I have read, I need a bit of help from someone with access to a VCDS / VAGCOM and the knowledge on how to work it. Here are the issues I have, and hopefully someone can advise me (being a bit of a noob and all):

Car is a 2005 model, and has VERY early software in it - when I first got the car, it had a battery drain, which knackered the battery (which I am told was on its way out anyway, but the drain didnt help matters). After some digging around online, I found that these early A6 C6's had an issue with the MMI software.........basically when you turn ignition off, and remove key, the MMI screen turns off, but the system remains on (which drains the battery). I dont think this should happen, but when my keys are removed from ignition, if i press any button on the MMI control panel, the screen turns back on to exactly where it was left on (no boot screen ever appears - which I think it should once the system is turned back on from ignition). Apparently this can be solved via an MMI update, which I have the CD's for, but apparently when I do this update, it will turn off a few functions (the screen in between speedo and rev counter) for a start - not sure of any others.

Secondly, I have just installed the Audi AMI system in my glove box (mission to try and get the sucker back in), however, again I am told that I need an MMI update, as my software it too old to recognise the AMI (so the above update should solve this), however it will also need the VCDS / VAGCOM to tell the car that the AMI is now present and to use it.

Third thing may/may not need done - when I put the new battery in, everything is working fine - but I am told that the battery may need coding to the car (there seems to be a bit of debate on whether or not this actually makes a difference to the car). As I said, the car is now working fine with the new battery, but if I have VCDS connected to the car, and someone knows how to do it, may as well!

I have tried speaking to the Audi guys at both Hamilton and Braehead (which are my nearest genuine Audi service centres), and both said they would not update the MMI unless there was a fault, and they would need to hook up to diagnostic to find out - and even if there was, they wouldnt use the Audi discs I have (even though they are genuine), they would do a factory reboot (which I suspect would just reinstall the software already in the car - therefore would be no further forward).

Thanks guys, any advise or assistance appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Hi fella, try reposting in the appropriate A6 section, not too many stray into this part of the forum. If you repost I'm certain you'll get the help you need. Welcome and I hope you get sorted.

Hi guys,
After review of problem i though the same problem as shared in this topic
Car Problem is :
