Last week I purchased a VR6 Storm in Classic green (http://www.autoanything.com/product_redirect.aspx?product_id=2101&vehicle_make_id=115&vehicle_model_id=9191&vehicle_year_id=2005&kc=AFFCJ&mr:trackingCode=12D26790-DA5E-E411-B4C3-90E2BA0278A8&mr:referralID=NA) with slight damage to the O/S wing, headlamp and slam panel. The Corrado had prevoiusly had a blow over and the colour was far too dark (it was almost blue) so have decided to give it a full bare metal respray.

The carpet and leather will get a full clean to try and bring them back to new condition.

Here are a few picture before I got my hands on it.

I already had some spare late spec rolled wings in Red which were in perfect condition. I have ordered 2 new doors and sourced a immaculate slam panel.

All interior, dash, engine, front subframe and all windows have been removed.

Wings, bonnet, rear 1/4's, roof, sunroof, tailgate and rear bumper are now bare metal.

Blimey, you don't hang about Mark! :)

Any mods planned on the engine whilst it's out? Water pump, chains and clutch are a must. Maybe a wee turbo whilst you're at it? ;)

I know, it all went a bit crazy rather quickly!

Its going to be a 3.0 with SP Schimmel 263 cams, ported big valve head (maybe), heavy duty valve springs and Schrick inlet manifold. All news chains, oil pump, waterpump and clutch.

No turbo as want to keep it NA, I have another Corrado project which is having a massive turbo engine.....soon!

That'll be some beast. A Schrick and a Storm (especially a Classic Green with Cream) are a very nice combo.
I've the Schimmel cams in mine. She's a bit lumpy at tickover but they certainly give her a bit of oomph :)

did you watch Wheeler Dealers on this model ?

I did.
They've revived the flagging secondhand market. For VR6's at least. Not only did they buy the car for buttons and turn a massive profit at it. But they featured a few of the more common and off-putting fixes. ABS sensors, easy to replace and only a few quid each, they even went the whole hog and had a pump reconditioned. I wish I'd known abut that firm before! Sunroof, easy fix with a second hand unit (easier still if VW would manufacture the repair kits again!). Lupo Wipers are a top mod too. I would have liked to see Edd's take on broken heater controls. But it's only an hour long programme.
They raved about the car's performance and handling and generally confirmed all we already know. This should increase interest in this fantastic hidden gem of a car and lead to many more being restored as projects. The future is bright.
As usual with Wheeler Dealers. A fair amount of artistic license. Mike may be a good haggler but a mint full leather interior for £450. Grill and RED badge for £45. Don't think so mate :)
All in all I thought it was great and can do nothing but good for our beloved cars.

The new "Modern Classic" magazine also did a feature on the top 50 classics in their 1st issue. Corrado was in there.
And there's this too
Everyday classic: Volkswagen Corrado – the underrated coupé that’s coming good - BT (http://home.bt.com/lifestyle/motoring/motoring-features/everyday-classic-volkswagen-corrado-the-underrated-coup-thats-coming-good-11364011636323)

Seems to be a bit of interest in these old yokes. ;)

You are lucky you had some wings, late ones are like gold dust but you can buy new early ones, which is daft!

I just paid £200 + p&p for some salvaged wings.
What are these "nearly new" ones?

Ah ok. Now I read it again slowly I see :)
So early shaped wings are still available.

I think there was talk of these guys making carbon fiber wings...

corrado are cars that you just can't stop loving.... beautiful cars & joy to drive.... shame that the fuel prices had to spiral out of control.

Would love to see your work on the old vw classics. If its not too much trouble would love if you could keep us all posted with your detailed car restoration

Sorry for not updating.

Engine is 90% built. Had to wait for a new SP schimmel camshaft as one I was sent was pitted.
