Hey guys n gals,

I'm looking at a set of MK5 Golf Alloys 16" (6Spoke with big centre cap), They are 5x112 and just wanted to know if they will fit as I'm struggling to understand the offset side of things? I have steelies atm.

Can someone shed some light at all?

Cheers

Hi
I had same question a few years ago when i got a set of 16" alloys for the old touran (mk5 golf platform). Offset or ET of 50mm is required, it will be cast into the wheel alongside the 5x112 PCD. If you look on your steelies you should also see ET50 stamped somewhere.

Hi,

Okay, after a little Research my current steelies are 6Jx15 ET47 and the alloys I am looking at are 6.5Jx16 ET42 both 5x112. Am I right in thinking that the offset difference will equal the same final result, as the alloys are wider than the steelies?

Okay, wheels sorted. Here is them fitted. No spacers etc. just put straight on. I think fronts are about right but rears look like they need spacing out 20mm to me. Also look at an odd camber.. Or is that normal? Never noticed it before.

Fronts have about 15mm between tyre edge and steering knuckle.

Unfortunately they have odd tyres on which I cannot cope with. Relatively skint now. Any mechanics PM me bargain super deal on some RE002 Potenzas or something?? ;) then I can get them on car permanently.

All fitted and sorted. car washed waxed hoovered and such. :) nice Saturday morning.

You may have a surprise when you tell your insurance company you have fitted alloys. It is a modification and unless you want a void insurance issue I suggest you contact them. Regards Peter

Already sorted. No change as they're genuine factory ones.

I have a mk5 1.9tdi I am struggling with offset what is the least offset I can have, I want the wheels to protrude or be a flush as possible with the arch as I am not lowering the car that much. I will also consider chamber if needed.

Help would be appreciated cheers

Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit (http://www.willtheyfit.com/#isPage=1)

Have a look on there. Enter the measurements of your original wheels and then the measurments of the new ones. It will show you on the diagram at the bottom.
