Hi all. last weekend whilst driving on the motorway the glow plug coil light started flashing in the dash board but the car drove normally without any loss in power etc. This possibly happened 2 or 3 times in the space of couple of hours as the car had been switched off & restarted etc.
Then this week the EML came on by itself, the glow plug light no longer flashes, again with the eml on the car drives normal without any loss of power etc. Took it to a local garage & upon diagnostics P242B Exhaust sensor & Bank 1 sensor 3 came up. The mechanic has reset the eml, so no longer comes up & as said before the car still drives normal.
My question is do i get the parts replaced? or do i carry on driving until if by chance the lights come up again next time?
Any replies appreciated.
My car is a 1600 tdi 2011

what diagnostic equipment was it scanned with? if it wasn't vcds then i would suggest getting one done by vcds to get an accurate diagnostic log.

I dont know what equipment was used as my partner took the car in, however i do trust our local garage as he has never let me down as regarding price on parts & labour etc.
I tried to get it checked at a local vw dealer but they were not free to look at it until the 17/08/15.

i know in the past that machines that aren't vcds have provided false diagnosis, im not doubting your mechanic, just saying that the tool used may not provide an accurate result.

I would have to ring him next week to find out.

And if the diagnostics turn out to be correct then as my question asked earlier on. Do i carry on driving as normal or get the parts replaced?

Is the sensor easily accessible & where along the car is it connected? Has anyone replaced one of these?

The faulty sensor has been replaced, all is fine again.
