Suggest you contact VW customer services. I had on/off problems with my Alhambra A/C, dealer virtually changed every part, obv loved doing warranty work. After 8 months I lost my patience & involved SEAT CS. They appointed new dealer who knew exactly what to do. I would document everything phone calls, dates, time taken off work etc. I also think you may have a case for rejecting the vehicle if they don't fix the faults. The excuse from the dealer about some cars being faulty is poor & I would quote this to VW. If you don't ask you don't get. Be tough & good luck.

Definitely do as gazza says and document everything. If you continue to get problems go to the Citizens' Advice Bureau and ask about your rights under the 'Sale of Goods' Act. A log of everything will be useful if they advise you to pursue your rights - a product has to be 'fit for purpose' if my memory serves (been out of the country a long time) - and will help to rattle someone's cage. Also, all dealers aren't created equal, so to speak.

Mine's going back in again in 10 days' time for them to have a second go at fixing an airbag warning light. The same morning that I decided to book it in, the main display came on in mirror image, righted itself, and then started marching across the screen, right to left. Needless to say, by the time I got to the dealer, it was working normally.

I'm told it will be put on diagnostics and, depending on what they find, it's possible that the whole instrument package will have to be replaced. It will be interesting to discover if the French dealers are any better than their UK counterparts!
