Rule of thumb with these are the size of the air box and it's filter , if small a K&N can be beneficial , over oiling it after cleaning is well documented causing maf problems .

A 130 PD received the same size airbox as a 4.2 V8 so no restriction . Even at 200 bhp on a dyno the PD gained just 1 bhp when the standard filter was removed .

so you wouldnt bother with the airbox?

Get some concrete before and after dyno evidence from others with the same engine .

I'd spend my money on nice wheel valve caps and wind deflectors

What do you want to achieve ?

I was just wanting better airflow and stuff like that. it means that the car would be able to deal with a better remap.

Most VAG cars have a fairly good airflow system and this box is a waste of money IMO as it is in the middle of the standard ducting, A K&N filter was useful on a twin choke carburettor engine not so much nowadays

Fair enough, so it's useless? They even guarantee 4-10 bhp? What about the forge induction kit?

You'll get many more horsies with a remap and some exhaust mods.

yeah i know i will, but im sure ill get more if i have a better airflow instead of the one thats on the car, as its very restrictive?

The standard filter is not very restrictive; a performance air filter will potentially have slightly less resistance when it's brand new. But oil used on them usually kills MAFs, also they let more dust through.
Not really much in favour of 'performance' air filter units.

You're not going to add a lot of BHP to a smallish engine that's already tuned. You might get it up to 150-160 brake even then it will shorten the life of the engine if you use all the power all the time. As the OP said the car is getting plenty of air, you could fit a straight through exhaust but that's not legal.
