View Full Version : Please Help Belt slipping noise

Hi I have a problem with mk4 1.8t aum. On harsh take off and at high revs changing between gear changing I can Wat sounds like belt slipping noise for a couple of seconds. Could it be my aux belt slipping. ??? Any suggestions [emoji106]

More likely to be the clutch release bearing.

Iv just had a new clutch and bearing fitted a week ago. Do have any other suggestions? ?

Was the noise there before the new clutch? Have you tried it with the AC in ECON mode?

Yea it makes it worse with a.c on and with full lock on the steering wheel

Some AUM's came with an alternator one way clutch pulley which can seize, do you know if your pulley is solid or clutch type?

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I wasn't aware of this and wouldn't know is there any way of finding out. My car is a Y reg.

the pictures have come on top of each other there not side by side. Is it the silver one with clutch pully out the 2

Yes it has a clutch I changed the post a little. You need special tools to change the pulley. I got mine from a company called M.U.R.E. can't recommend them enough

one with a clutch will have a plastic cover over it usually.

Thanks for all the replys uv all been very helpful. I'm gonna get my mechanic to change it and look into that M.U.R.E company.
