Have a Polo here with an oil leak. Apparently the sump "hit a rock" and it was brought to a guy that worked in a Mazda garage to repair but it still leaked oil. I took the sump off and straightened it out (Mr Mazda didn't bother), when I went to clean off the sealant I discovered it's white gloss paint. Mazda apprentices are obviously taught how to improvise!

Actually I hate those 1.0 Polos, twice in the past I ran into difficulties taking off the sump. One had the insides of the bolts ruined and on another one the ball snapped off the hex key and stayed in the bolt wouldn't budge grrrr

thats probably why the mazda people did what they did. my brother welded a hole up in a sump once in situ. he drained the oil and cracked on. the resulting exlosion fired the dip stick about 200 yards. he found it though and everything was fine. maybe you would be better off putting some rad weld in the oil.
