AUDI A3 2001 8L drivers door wont shut when raining or wet

I have a problem with my drivers door on my Audi A3 2001 8L 1.8. When it rains the door wont shut. It just bounces back and only catches on the first click of the latch. I have no problem with the door in the dry. Its not cold (15-25 Deg C) so its not freezing. Any ideas?

Grab some white lithium grease and give the door lock and catch a good spray.

Open and close the door a few times or use a screwdriver to operate the lock and you should notice some improvement.

Thanks Sam, I'll give it a go. I'm struggling to understand why it's fine in dry situations though. I was thinking along the route of water in the seals

If there's moisture in the lock mechanism it won't work as intended.

It may well be seals, but the lock would be where I'd start.

Give the seals a squeeze (fnar!) next time the door won't close and see if it's sodden?
