Hi,

I've recently purchased a 2010 1.6 TDI Polo. I bought the car salvage and have had it repaired, the problem is there appears to be a lack of power (turbo doesn't seem to kick in). I've had diagnostics plugged in and it mentioned MAF, I believe it's a MAP sensor on these so have purchased a new one. However I haven't a clue where to find it to replace the part, the engine code is CAY has anyone any advice on it's location please? When driving the coil light flashes and eventually the engine management light came on too, there is no smoke from the turbo so hoping it is just the MAP?

Your engine code will be CAYA, CAYB or CAYC depending on the PS figure 75, 90 or 105 respectively. The MAF and the MAP are two entirely separate parts, where the MAF is correctly known in VW parts terminology as the "Air Mass Meter" (03L 906 461 £135.30 for all CAY series engines) which is on the air cleaner. The MAP sensor is on the pipe from the intercooler and is called a "pressure sensor". This changed part number in very late 2010 so will be part number 038 906 051 C or 03G 906 051 E, £64.52 either way. I would hazard a guess that the wiring to the pressure sensor is either disconnected or damaged.

Thank You. It's the 75 bhp, it only says CAY 041804 on the V5. Originally I tried looking for a MAF but was unable to find a part from anywhere so I assumed that the MAP was a replacement . As I have a new MAP sensor I will try to fit this and let you know how I get on. Thanks again.

Some reg look up systems give you the full code and it should be on the cars data sticker but it will be CAYA. Let us know how you get on.

Took it to VW as someone knew a mechanic and he does guvies. Turns out it's a faulty wire, which he's going to price with his discount and sort it for me :beerchug:
