View Full Version : VW Phaeton 18 way seats memory module question

Hello & apologies if I've posted in the wrong place. I have an old Mercedes /8 with worn seats so have found something a bit better, namely some nice VW Phaeton Mk1 seats. I'd never heard of a Phaeton until I went to look at some Audi A8 seats and spotted the Phaeton ones in the corner - they have a more classic look than the Audi ones so will suit my '60's Mercedes better.

Anyhow, I can tap in and make all the seat motors and fans work directly but want to try to make use of the memory modules as I suspect the switches use a very small current to drive a larger current and the memory module takes care of this.

So my question is, has anyone got a wiring schematic of the underseat memory modules or can say which connectors do what? The local VW dealer says they can't start to search their databases without a chassis number and even then might not have enough level of detail to help. Suffice to say, I don't have the chassis number, just the seats.

I don't need details of module to motors, just module to outside of seat. Perhaps it's as simple locating +12V supply(s) and earth(s)

Related to this, as I won't have electric mirrors and other things that could be controlled by the seat memory module, will the module still work if it can't 'see' the position of these missing devices?

Just as an aside, the reason for not using Mercedes seats Eg S class is that the controls are on the door rather than the seat.

Many thanks,
