Hello all,

2002 VW Golf MK4 1.9 TDI 5 Speed Triptronic (Jatco) 09A Transmission throws up:

00281 - Vehicle Speed Sensor G68 - No Signal - Intermittent

I've cleared it (no faults recorded in Auto Trans) and then driven it locally whilst scoping it. At the end of the journey, I scanned again and had the same 00281 code appear in the Auto Trans.

Can anyone help translate the graph info regarding the G68? Key below:

TOP LINE, GROUP 001

RED = Speed
GREEN = Gearbox Output Speed Sender -G182- (Turbine Speed)
YELLOW = Engine Speed (RPM)

BOTTOM LINE, GROUP 007

ORANGE = Engine Speed (RPM)
PINK = Gearbox Input Speed Sender -G182- (Turbine Speed)
BLUE = Intermediate -G265-
TEAL = Road Speed Sensor G683

I initially reverse from my drive, hence (I assume why there is) no reading from Group 001 / 1 and Group 007 / 4 (RED and TEAL lines respectively). The spike in Engine RPM is caused when it just doesn't want to shift into 2nd going up a mild but short hill.

For reference, I can cycle through R - 4th but not 5th. This is true in both D and Triptronic modes.

I've also Ohm checked the pins on the tranny connection (it's a bit difficult to due because of a lack of space) and I BELIEVE it's within the allotted 400-600 ohm range. THIS COULD BE WRONG as it's difficult to check, however I will check the corresponding TCM pins later.

Appreciate any and all help. I'm hoping it's just a connection / cable issue and I don't have to pull the tranny to swap the sensor out.

Cheers,

J.
