hi guys and girls,

So I found out today that my 2003 b6 s4 is blowing. Took her down the local exhaust place and it turns out both the flex pipes have holes in them. Anyway the guy did some searching and it turns out the downpipe and cat to which the flex are attached to will cost me 1100 pounds each with the drivers side on back order from Germany so a massive wait. Does anyone have any cheaper fixes, I.e can you replace the flex with a universal part.

Cheers in advance

Ali

I would think a good welder could cut them out and replace with new.

Got both flex pipes done in the end at a total cost of 57 pounds, get in.

Exactly that. Just had it done on one of my cars (admittedly an A2 1.4 Tdi, so a little different from yours....) Cost about 120 instead of 350 for the part.

perfect :) , seemed a bit to cheap to remove the pipes to weld them, but mates rates are best sometimes.

Yeah all good, I actually cut the old ones out and he welded the new ones in without having to take the downpipe off which was a bonus, he is a good welder to be fair to him.

Similar problem on my Jag diesel, a known issue, I've seen quite a few on the Audi's too

The dealer wanted around 1200 EACH for new cats, the fix is / was new flexi pipes at around 300 - job done

I always use the clamp on ones, you get a bit more metal to weld to the old pipe
