Hi, i have a DSG 2.0TDI wagon. Does anybody know why it takes approx 2 seconds for the car to realise you have depressed the accelerator. I gave a bus a drag the other day and the bus won.....for the first 10 seconds.....I find it extreamly dangerous especially on roundabouts. All the service people tell me is ts normal....yeh right.

I've had a couple of DSGs with the 2.0 TDI 140 and 170 engine. I have found both to be really rather nippy if handled correctly. The gearbox is good enough to leave a lot of other cars standing while the owners fiddle about with the clutch. I think it takes a moment from releasing the brake to engage drive, so often I'd let it start to roll forward very slightly (careful now!). There is also a delicate balance between giving it enough gas to get moving through the turbo lag, and giving it so much that the wheels spin (tres embarrassing when the car starts to ESP shudder!).

Always instant release, especially when using Auto-hold, can be a little slower when reversing off drive after car has been standing overnight and in Park.. I also find using my right foot very lightly helps for a smooth release. I always blip the throttle to encourage early shift from 4-6 before 2K revs on long accel esp when cold & to save fuel. As DSGboy says, very rapid & amazing what you can leave behind & overtake etc etc, would rec to anybody. Marvellous piece of engineering.
