My 2008 A3 2.0TDi Quattro today pasted its MOT.

But on-route to the test station the Engine Light came out, in one respect luckily rather than the Airbag.

The test station could have done a check for the fault @ £50.

So which format should the Diagnostic be, a Ross-Tech VCDS or a OBD 2 so I can check myself and reset the fault.

Thanks

Would this be suitable for reading codes and reset.

VW Audi USB KKL Diagnostic Interface Cable, using the VCDS - Lite software from Ross-Tech

No I'm afraid not because you have a 2008 a3. You'd have to get the £200+ VCDS. The micro-can supports your year of car, but you are restricted as to which vehicles you can scan if you look at the compatibility list. The hex+can is unrestricted.
