Hi,

My colleague in the office has an intermittent problem with his Polo Gti - (Jan 12 registered). Sometimes when he attempts to start, the starter motor does not attempt to spring into life. No click or anything.

The car electrics power up, first and second stage ignition, lights on the dash come on (no warning lights), radio can be turned on etc, but on the third stage of ignition, nothing happens at all.

Then on other times it works no problem at all.

One dealer in Derby looked at it, although it sounds like they just looked for fault codes, and found nothing wrong. He has it booked for the supplying dealer to inspect this Wednesday, but has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any pointers or directions he should steer the dealer in?

As it is an intermittent (but regular) problem, he is afraid the dealer will simply turn round and say "no faults logged, so theres nothing we can do", just like the first dealer to look at it.

Many thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated.
