I have a 52 reg A4 2.0, it has only done 16,000 miles, i bought it at christmas with 10k on it, anyway the service message has now come up.

Do I really need the full Audi service with such a low mileage ?

and if so is the cost as brutal as i've heard ?

Cheers

Yes, you need a new cam belt at least as they need changing every 4 years or 60K.

Basically a car needs a full service every year regardless of mileage.

I had a quote of £415 to do water pump, cam belt and aux belts a while ago, got the job done at a independent for £270;)

I would take it to an independent, but ring the local Audi for a quote first just so you know. I seen people be charge as much as a dealer. Use someone who has been recommended

wow! £415 i could do without!

will the independent reset the service message ? (or can i do that myself ?)

The only reason i'm reluctant is that i only bought the car in December and it was serviced before i bought it - i'm only contemplating a service because of the message coming up.

If anyone knows of a good place in Manchester/Cheshire i'd appreciate it.

Was the cam belt done on the last service?
