Foldy Mirrors - How to ?

Hi,

I have a 14 plate B7 estate which is all very nice except it doesn't have the folding mirrors Mrs A's Octavia has. This is the cause of major enviousness and therefore needs solving.

Is this an easy mod/swap to do, anyone done it ?

Yep, A6 gone. The fuel cost was too high. First tank in this thing and I'm at 500 miles with 200 to go ;)

I have folding mirrors installed from factory but they only fold when the switch is put into the fold position and the ignition has to be on todo this. They don't auto told and unfold and there is nothing in the convenience menu either. :( I will have to look in VCDS but don't want to void any warranty.

Definitely keep fit folding mirrors on mine.

vcds wont void any warranty by the way. just dont go pressing things that you don't know the outcome of.

some models (not sure on the passat, the 8k a4 does it) have a setting to fold on lock but most models are switch operated.

I will have a look to see if the mirrors fold on lock and I will report back then it will be an good upgrade for you todo.

I to want this on my Passat as its a pain doing it manually not to mention the ware and tear on the mirror switch.

I have had a look around in VCDS but can't find anything relating to filing the mirrors on lock I can see the coding for them. I have looked in central Conv, right and left hand doors nothing that I can see is there. I spent about an hour on it but if anyone has any better ideas where to look and I am happy to go an have another look. It's like the LED daytime running lights I have seen golfs go dimmer when indicating there is only an option that makes the DRL turn off when indicating. So I'm guessing that my firmware doesn't support this at all.
That doesn't mean to say that yours won't!

The best thing todo is have a look around VCDS (or get someone to look for you that has VCDS) I would start in the convenience module. Unfortunately I can't tell you where to find it since I have not seen where it is myself.

This is the best place to have a look Ross-Tech: Distributor List (http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.php)
You buy the lead then the software is for free (the licence is within the lead) I can recommend Gendan this is where I bought mine from.

Just check your getting the correct lead for your car they will help you with that.

Just to confirm I tried this tutorial on my 2014 Passat to no avail :( I was able to login and find (9)-System_Parameter_0-System Parameter Byte8 and was able to change it to 95 and 99 the controller accepted the new setting but sadly did not work when holding the lock button. I even changed the mirror adjustment switch but this did not work either.

I would believe that this coding only works for LHD vehicles.

For RHD, the coding parameter should be different.

Same results.....we are back to ground zero. Got to get a working code for the RHD mirrors to fold.

If someone know of anyone with a Skoda Superb and can read the same parameter in the driver's module to ascertain the required code, it may work for us.
