Diagnostics software for general use for my vw bora 1.9 tdi 130

Hi guys I require some software that I can run on my laptop that I can look up fault code and also copy ECU and Module info over to put on a new unit. I use to use vwTool with my copy lead I brought off eBay but I have updated my laptop to windows 7 64 bit and this version of vw tool won’t work with my operating system I have tried using it on compatibility mode but iv had no luck. Can some advise me of some I can download for free that’s able to for fill all my needs and will work on windows 7 64 bit.

I will appreciate any help and links from any fellow forum users

what's the version of your cable, i am afraid ebay cable can only be installed on Win XP

It should work with VCDS lite which you can download for free. If it's a clone of the full version the cable is now useless http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAGUSB.html

the cable dont state any info regarding version. is there another way to work out what version this cable is?

most likey its a copy of the full version. cant i download the full version and use my copy cable? i did use this cable before to copy ECU info to a new ECU previously and it worked fine.

i have downloaded the free version and tryed it with my cable had to install the driver for the cable i still have no joy?

seams like the software does not see the car pluged in i have tryed selecting differnt com ports.

It's got vag k+can on the cable so it's a clone of can commander it won't work with VCDS anything, this will work for cars up to about 2002/3. http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VAGUSB.html If you want to do diagnostics on a range of cars you're talking thousands. We don't advocate pirated software or cloned dongles so I can't really help any further.

Yes it's different. VCDS and can commander are different

what software works with can commander? is it vagcom?

VAG.COM is the old name for VCDS . Can commander is now called VAG commander the software costs about £2500.00

Thanks for the reply will i be able to check if the coolant temperature sensor is reading the correct temperatures of cold and hot with this tool?
There is a lot of choice for brands and prices for these "elm327" tools can you suggest what i require? Wifi/Bluetooth/wired?
