140 or 170?

Hi, I am planning to come back to the Audi marque with an A3tdi, but am wondering if I am better getting the 140 and remapping it, or going for the 170 straight off? I understand the injectors are better on the 140?

Your thoughts?

PS I was a member a few years ago, but have been gone a while flirting with a few other cars. :)

Hi I have the 140 and would most likely remap it after a year's ownership. Had it since march and like it more everyday. Originally, was looking at 170 bit heard they have lots of problems one of which u've listed injectors.

I think I am gonna make a bid on a 140 I like the look of, unless it doesn't work out and a 170 comes along.

Cool, I haven't really looked out for remap side of it just yet but defo something I'm intrested in doing soon. I just made some visual changes so far. Best thing would be either join the audi sport forum or the fb page and lots of people there can help you with regards to which remap.

Why not enjoy the 140 bhp for a little. Then remap so u don't get bored of it straightaway. Haha

I have a A3 2010 sportback 170bhp, just done 148K no problems at all, not needed to remap yet!

What sort of mileage is average for a year's use? My audi is 11 years old only got 89k miles on there. I have had it since march and drove about 2k. But I normally only average around 400 miles a month I would say minimum and about 600 max. Is that average or high or low?

They say about 12K per year, but I think this is dated now.
I have two cars, both do at least 25K per year. People like low mileage cars, but beware!
Most modern cars have DPFs fitted and hate just running to the shops and back, most cars do.
I would recommend a high mileage car with full service history and motorway miles to any low mileage pop to the shop car.


My Audi A3 2.0TDi 170Bhp has hit 148K, full Audi service history, travels around 120 miles per day on the motorway.

I got a quote to remap my 170 not long ago and they said I would get a 30 Bhp gain and 60 Torque, as well as a likely improvement in fuel consumption - It's pretty pokey already, but rocking 200 Bhp would be nice at the lights i reckon
