Hi, I noticed when I recently bought my 1.8T cab that there was a slight weep of coolant from the top metal pipe that runs along the top of the engine.

it was coming from the plastic bleed screw that someone has obviously sheared off trying to undo it to bleed the system after fitting a new cam belt and water pump!

why can't garages rectify their mistakes!

anyway I did one of these a few years ago and knew the only way was to drill it out, the thread is M10 so used a suitable tapping drill size and drilled out the plastic plug, I then got a big syringe and sucked out any plastic bits from inside the water pipe, using a small pointed scribes I cleaned out the thread and again sucked out any debris.

using a new plastic plug and some special fumbling grease I fitted the new one, job done and all good!

now, what's the next job to do.........
