Hey chaps

I know there are various threads on remaps, but has anyone done it on their facelift 134 bhp TDIe model A6?? Looks to take it up to around the 170 mark - so the same as the original A6 with the 2.0l engine.

Are the gains worth it? Does it feel noticeably quicker in gear? - never thought the car was a slouch once up to speed, but getting it off the line has always been a struggle.

Was thinking of selling as getting bored of the manual box, but getting a friend in the trade to give me the glasses price has rather shocked me, so shall be keeping for a while now and putting up with my stop start commute! So thought i'd treat her to refurbed alloys, and maybe a remap - if it makes a decent difference?

Cheers

If you go for an out-and-out power remap you'll probably get the 22% hike to around 170.

On my 3.0 quattro I went for a 'eco remap' which just inceased things by around 12%, when I contacted my insurer they advised that anything below a 15% increase didn't attract an additional premium....natch a 'full power' one would.

As you've advised that you are considering selling wouldn't it be better to just get a tuning box? That way when you sell the car you can take the box off and sell it for at least half what you paid?

PS: DTUK were a forum sponsor and one of the more respected tuning box suppliers out there.

How do you find the eco map? It made much of a difference MPG wise? Guess the power side is hardly noticeable?

Think with the amount the car has lost in the last 18 months [paid £12,600 Oct 14, now books as £8,360 part ex!] i may be keeping her a while longer now.

I get close to 55mpg on long runs (920 on a tank) and have never gotten less than 720 (40 mpg) miles out of a tank since the remap.

I had my TDie remapped to 184bhp and 420NM. And you feel it straight away. More-BHP.com in Crewe tuned mine and had DPF removed as well. My 2015 Ultra feels a little quicker even though its down 20NM but up 3BHP.

Gribbo - is it deffo an ecu out job to do a remap on a facelift tdie? Seems prices vary by £50 depending on if it needs to be removed to work on!

More than likely with a tricore ecu it will need removing. Some remappers have developed a system for doing it via ObD. It's just finding one who has bypassed the security on them

Cheers mate. Cant make my mind up if it's worth it. Not too fussed about mpg gains, just a little frustrated about how sluggish it is from stopped.

DPF removal will cost you down the road
