The heater blower suddenly started blowing cold on all settings, manual blower, temp gauge normal, checked under the bonnet, expansion tank had filled up so left it to go cold, removed expansion tank lid, and the water was still at the top, started the engine and air bubbles started coming out but level stayed at the top,
Mechanic reckons heater flaps stopping water circulating could this be the cause???

Mechanic changed heater flap motor , still didn't circulate, I had a recon engine fitted 7 K ago, and the metal water pump from the old engine was fitted as it had only done 20K, he is going to check it and the thermostat anything else he can check???? superb 1.9tdi

heater flaps stopping water circulation, seriously ? he needs to go back to school. its a constant flow heater, the flap directs the air and is nothing to do with the water flow. what you have is a fault thats indicative of a failed water pump. possibly a thermostat problem but unlikely. could also be a major failing of the new engine.
