I have upgraded my 2009 A6 from 3G Low/DVD based to 3G high. I got component protection removed today (£80 not to bad). As part of the upgrade I changed the screen to the 7" as required. My problem is that since the upgrade the screen does not change brightness along with the rest of my instrument cluster either with the button on the dash or automatically depending how much daylight there is. Before the upgrade I never had to change the brightness day or night and it was definitely brighter during the day. Now on the brightest setting during the day it's quite dull. I got into the car in the dark after work today, it was on the same setting and it was to bright and had to be turned down a couple of notches.

Has anyone come across this before or can help?

This could be fixed the VAG Can Pro otherwise, you will have to buy another screen which is compatible with your 5F module.

Thanks for the reply. I dont have VAG Can Pro and dont know much about it. I have VCDS, Can this be fixed with it?

The 5F unit (4E0035670H) is listed as a 2009-2011 A6 part (also listed as used in A4, A5, Q5 and Q7) if I search it in partsbase. Is it not compatible with the A6 Screen? If not how do I find the correct screen?

My screen is 8R0919604, Would the older 4F0919604 work? These are also listed as 2009-2011 Audi A6 parts also.

Thanks for your help, there is at least one other person I know that has the same problem and this helps both of us

There is a display option in the hidden menu to adjust brightness but the setting is never remembered. With VAG Can Pro http://www.vag-tech.eu/ you can flash 5F module with their zdf files and that will change the firwmare settings. Also 8R0919604 has been rev to 8R0919604A which could resolve your screen brightness problem (The old 4F0 screens will not work)

When I fitted my 3GP system into my A6 I had the us VCP to fix my screen brightness problem.

The second screen I have is rev 8R0919604A, this also does not automatically change brightness.

A while ago I ordered a new LCD screen from here (http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/6586924368.html?orderId=66610486342136) thinking it may have been the back-light. It did not fix it, however at least I have a nice new non scratched screen.

Before I invest in Vag Can Pro I would like to know a bit more about the setting that needs changed. I have not come across the display option in the hidden menu. Can you point me in the right direction? Hopefully this would help me understand what I am changing with VCP.
