Hi,

I've got a golf mk4 1.9 pd tdi on a 52 plate and it's just come up with a warning light saying "engine workshop".
I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on this and has anyone experienced this before?
Is this a known common fault? As I've had many problems with this car in the past.

All help very much appreciated

Kevin

Hi

Had a similar problem with my Bora recently.

Engine management light came on and Engine Workshop! warning illuminated.
This first happened when approaching a roundabout and then the light went off afterwards.
Turned out to be a failed brake light switch (cost £7) and took 5 minutes to replace.
Damned sight cheaper than plugging into VW diagnostic!

Hope this helps.

Where does this switch go? I also have the same problem... replaced glow plugs to what the mechanic told me... but the light still comes on.

Hi

Switch is located on brake pedal itself and can be accessed by removing cover which also goes over clutch pedal.

Take care to replace correct switch as clutch pedal also has a similar looking item on it!

Cheers
