the sender for the coolant level, disconnect it and bridge the terminals with a small section of0.030mm wire and see if the warning light stays out

Hi

I disconnected the sender under the expansion tank.it looked at if the contacts were a little burned.

Bridging the two wires lit the warning light in the dash, but with the wires separated the warning light dosnt come on.
So the switch under the tank must be closed when the tank runs out of water and usually remains open when the tank is full.

seems the wrong way around to me but who am i to argue eh?.

Thanks for the help
