View Full Version : New water pump (and timing belt) - could it have been put on a tooth out?

Had a new water pump under warranty around Christmas, just after a service. Naturally that came with a new timing belt.

Since then, MPG has dropped for 48-50 (on the long average reading) to 42-45. Power seems ever slightly down and there is a distinct vibration, engine speed related, pulling around 1150-1200 rpm in all gears.

All this is compounded by the fact that I had to have 2 new tyres which had to go on instantly at about the same time. Michelin Energy ones weren't available. It was Hobsons choice of 2 Pirellis on the front.

Anything I should be looking at before taking the chance of making myself look like a mammary gland at the dealers??

All parts and labour has a dealer warranty so no need to be embarrassed about asking them to check

Did anything ever come of this? I am seeing similar symptoms after a pump/blet change.
