Changed the thermostat on my polo after it kept overheating, after I put it all back together and went to fill it back up with coolant, it just dropped all the coolant before I could even fill it it. from what I can see it's coming from the block end of a black pipe/tube behind the stat. I've tried water sealing it with a rubber O ring (which didn't work) and silicon (which also hasn't worked). It's an extremely awkward place to get it, and my next step is to take the inlet manifold off so I can actually get to the connection and see what's going on!
