Hello and quick question re insurance charge by dealer for loan car

hi all.

booked my car for a service at colbournes audi camberley (now lookers audi)

and was told there wasa £15 insurance charge if i wanted a loan car..

do you know any other dealers doing this?? not impressed as you can imagine.

I've heard of a few places doing it before. At the end of the day someone has to pay for the insurance, why should it be the dealer? If you don't like it go elsewhere? They will probably have free insurance but your service will be about £15 more expensive!

Do you have a fully comprehensive insurance policy that allows you to drive any vehicle not owned by you?

i do but you need tio take theirs out, else its 3rd party cover on their new car.


agree someone has to pay, but i took a fixed price service plan out and now have to pay to get a loan car..

Who has the issue with 3rd party cover on their new vehicle - you or the dealership?

Can you not have your car collected/returned - VW always did that for me.

Not sure if this is an option, but Marlow VW - ex-sponsors of VWAF - are in High Wycombe.

You don't have to use a main dealer for servicing in order to satisfy a warranty any more.

Yeah I left mine in for Service and was told it was £10 per day for the courtesy car.

Just out of curiosity - why are you using a main dealer 40 miles away and not one closer, such as the one mycarsavw mentioned above?
