Hi Guys,

I have a Passat 2.0 TDI 2006 b6 140 that has been in a few scrapes and the recent one is going to cost £600-£1000'to repair and will still not make it perfect. I have found a 1.9 TDI with mint body work but knackered injectors for £500 how much trouble will it be to swop the block from my 2.0 in to the 1.9 ? Will I be able to use the 1.9 gear box and just swop the block will any wiring need changing and will the ecu keys etc just swop thanks for any help in advance and a happy new year.

Most if not all wiring will need changed along with ecu, dash clocks, keys etc.

Why not get a set of injectors for the 1.9??

Damn was hoping it would be pretty simple the 1.9 is high mileage ex taxi my 2.0 is fairly low mileage just knackered body wise and recent fight with a lamp post has creased the inner wing and snapped the sub frame trying to weigh up which is going to be less hassle.

what engine is in the 1.9, a pd presumably. who has diagnosed that it needs injectors and by what reasoning.

I haven't bought it yet so am not so sure of the problems with the engine, I'm pretty sure they would not be so keen to break it if it was easily fixable. Thanks for the reply's guys

hmm, might be worth taking a punt on it, presuming its a pd. it will most likely have a misfire thats been diagnosed as an injector, when all it needs is a new injector wiring loom. much cheaper and quite routine on the pd engine. injectors are a lot of money, 1200 odd quid for a set of properly reconned ones .

He did say it still ran but had a misfire

hahahah, rip his arm off. probaly got th #e fault code relating to injector 1 misfire. even main dealers have told me to replace the injector. they very very rarely fail, butt the harness does always fail, anything over 100k miles.

He had started breaking it but I have all the bits he's sold on my 2.0 could work out nicely. will the subframe, drive shafts and suspension legs be the same on the 1.9 a so on my 2.0 as if injector harness fails I can use the bits of that to repair my 2.0

A new loom is pennies compared to a set of injectors. If your 2.0 engine is good you should be able to break the B6 into a profit certainly enough to get the 1.9 for nothing

Can I use the loom out of my 2.0 and put it in the 1.9 or would I be best to to take the panels and parts I need form the mint car to put on my 2.0. I think it seems like the better option it is the same colour on paper but when the panels are swooped over I'm not sure how well it will match we will have to see
