ooooh new look to the forum. Overall i like it, but could do with a bit more colour.

The "New reply" button doesnt quiet work correctly. When wanting to respond to a thread, but dont want to quote the post youre responding to you can press the "New reply" button. However to press it you have to put the mouse cursor right at the top of the box, other wise you are unable to select it.

Only an annoying little problem, but a problem all the same.

Cheers

Looks amateurish if you ask me - especially the grey/black logo up top. Everyone is different I suppose!

The "new reply" button below doesn't work for me either.

I can confirm that that's happening to me, the 'onclick' action only happens for the uppermost 10% of the button (Win 7 & Firefox)

If I click the new reply button once I get the quick reply box under the post.. If I click it twice the full editor opens after a few seconds.

Will keep testing ;) that was the idea of releasing the update BEFORE i have to turn off the old scheme..

I like it! Cleaner and more contemporary. The NEW REPLY button does work, but only if you hover over the middle of the actual button (middle at the top) and wait for your cursor to change to the hand symbol.
Change is good!

Thanks for your comments... Change does take getting used too, but the old scheme will not work with the newer software and the designer no longer supports it....

The logo may be "work in progress" and may change

I have merged this thread with the other about the site changes, just to keep it all in one place :)

i have just noticed that when i get a notification, either a thank or like, or a pm, there is no longer a big red banner with 'notification' to alert you to the fact i have a notification. instead it just has a number next to it, which isn't very exciting. :(

Yeah "New reply" button is very tetchy, really need to concentrate to get it to work

Obviously I was used to the "old scheme" and it worked quite well I thought change is inevitable though and usually there's a reason for it.

I'm sure over time we'll all get used to the new layout etc, it is cleaner and more up to date looking, but personally, I think it needs a little colour here n there.
Life can be dull, drab, grey on a daily basis and I think it may be a little depressing after a short period of time.

Hopefully issues can be resolved soon and maybe add a little colour.....all good

Until I can replicate the "new reply" issue, which so far works fine for me I can't fix anything.... :(

It works as it should for me, single click anywhere it opens the "quick reply" box "double click" opens the full editor, exactly the same as before..

stuart
29-11-2014, 10:21 AM
OK, so far this morning I have tested the "new reply" button using my Window 7 64bit Notebook with

Chrome
Firefox
Opera
Safari

All work OK for me, i.e single press anywhere on the button opens the "quick reply" box, a double click opens the full editor.

IE11

IE11 does and always will have issues with this version of vBulletin software, just type IE11 and vBulletin 4 issues in Google, it is known... maybe the full update will solve this when it is done... so far I have noticed "hit and miss" when typing, i.e letters missing...

In the meantime I am now using IE11 in " compatibility mode" and it seems to be working fine...

To do this,

Go to settings at the top rights and select the "cogged wheel"

Select "compatibility view settings"

"vwaudiforum.co.uk" should be in the "Add this website" box, if not type it in...

Then click "Add" The site should then show In the lower box..

you will then need to refresh the page...

So far this seems to work on my notebook, I can post, use the return key, using the mouse to highlight text to copy... and the new reply key...

Note: If you have the browser set to delete history and cookies when you close the browser you will need to do this each time.

In case it helps; I am also experiencing the same issue with the "new reply" button as described by others. I am using Windows 7 64bit with a 23" screen - I have the problem with Chrome and IE11. I have used Chrome's "Inspect element" feature and it clearly shows that the hyperlink should be working for the entire size of the "new reply" button image, yet in practise the hyperlink is only working for a very small strip at the top of the button image...very strange.

zollaf; have you changed anything that the button is now working for you?

Still having problems with the "New reply" button
You have to be really careful / selective and point to the top / middle of the button for it to work......the others all seem fine for me so far.

I fully appreciate how frustrating this can be as both Admin and as a member. I'm sure everyone knows you're doing your best to resolve these issues as quickly as possible for the benefit of all.

We'll all just have to be patient and bear with you through this difficult time....

Now stop reading this post and go and fix the &*^&&^(* issues ;)

Thanks

Works fined for me in Chrome. I expect it's a browser-specific issue, so if those having problems say what browser they are using it might show which browsers are giving the trouble.

The logo looks like an A3, so excellent by me! :biglaugh:

Has something changed on the forums appearance tonight? I just found this thread, the forum appearance was still the same (when signed in) for me until today. Now it just looks like it is broken. On my i-pad all the menus and headings are on top of each other and it looks like a website with a fault. Is there a fault, or is this the "new site" that gas been referred to?

Live tried signing in again, and tried both safari and chrome.

The only thing that has changed is everyone will now be using the new site scheme.

In anticipation of the major software update I intend to perform on Christmas day the old scheme, which will not work with the new version of the software has been turned off. I have just tried the site on my Samsung phone and the layout is correct... Can you post a screen shot?

Sometimes clearing the browser cookies and cache can help, but this will loose any saved passwords.

On a side issue will the forum be offline on Christmas day? Am I going to have to talk to these people in the house?

Is it ok now?... I have switcged the old scheme back on... you should now be able to select which you want...

If so select the VWAF 2014 and see if it is ok

If so it looks like I need to manually switch everyone to the new scheme before I turn it off or do the update

The 2014 version still doesn't look ready or finished, maybe it should be renamed 2015 ;)

Chesterfield it looks as though the icon we use to take you to the last post on a thread - a double more than symbol >> - has been replaced with that image. That suggests a client side browser cache issue to me.

Excellent.. that is the issue, if you have that set as the default it is causing the issue.. the new scheme works different to all the others we have used, so when the old one is turned off it is trying to find the old one, gets confused and messes itself up...

I need to migrate everyone to the new scheme before I do the update, that way it should work... or it has for you and the team member (Chris) today..

The old one is turned back on now, so you can use that if required... :)

Thanks for helping with this...

On my windows 8 laptop it is the same-the new reply only works by pointing at the line at the top of the box. Also noticed that the reply and quote buttons have a bar on the right which goes black when you point at them, the new reply button doesn't do this.

stuart

The new reply button does not change colour like the others, no idea why, that is how they designed the scheme...

So far I have used Chrome, both current and beta versions (39 & 40), Firefox, Opera and Safari, all work 100% as it should for me...

IE11 has a few issues which will never be solved, most are down to IE and vBulletin...
