I have just got vag-com and plugged it into my 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Sport which I have had for just over a week. I was surprised to find so many DTC's. I have listed them below if you are interested. There are no warning lights on the dash and I don't know how long the codes have been there for. Should I just clear all of them and see if they come back?
I may also register the vag-com software to make full use of all it's features. :D

Thanks for the advice.

I reset all the codes at lunchtime and only 2 fault codes came back on my drive home from work.

At least I have ideas on how to go about sorting these 2 faults out!

How did you manage to clear the DTC's? I have the registered version and it says I need the professional version to do this.

I'm not too impressed with VagCom at the moment

I believe that you have to clear them one by one by going into the relevant control module and clearing from there. The 'Clear all DTC' button doesn't work. Not even on the fully registered version!

RESETTING THE ECU

1) Remove Neg - off battery for 3 minutes.
2) Leave drivers door open and reconnect battery.
3) Leave bonnet open and switch car ignition lights on ( ANOTHER 3 MINUTES) DO NOT START THE CAR.

When the time is up remove keys put keys back in car and start car.

This will removal all error codes on vags and audi's unless its Crash data will can only be removed by vag coms.

For the record, and as the manual (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/main_screen.html) for VAG-COM/VCDS says:

[Clear All DTCs]
This function is only available when using a HEX Interface and is implemented in two ways. On pre-CAN vehicles, VCDS will access each control module and clear DTCs from each one individually. On vehicles using CAN for diagnostics, VCDS performs this function without accessing all the control modules individually. If you are not using a HEX Interface then you'll need to go into each module that has faults to clear them individually. This function is also accessible from the Applications Screen

So, for those of you who want that capability, you need to purchase a HEX style interface.

Also for the record cyberduderen, VCDS just scored the highest score of 10 full featured scan tools as tested by DEKRA in Germany. VCDS high score beat vendors like Boesch, Launch, Gutmann, and others.

Perhaps we can help you with whatever difficulty you are experiencing? What is the tool not doing for you? Also, whose wire did you buy? Did you buy an aftermarket cheap wire? Did you stop to think that maybe that wire is not what is provided by Ross-Tech?

Let us know some details. We would like to help.
