Hi all, I have a '95 Audi Coupe at the moment and was looking at swapping it for something a bit newer and with better mpg. Thinking allong the lines of a 2001 tdi (130bhp one).

Thing is I work as an outdoor instructor and every now and then I chuck my bike in the back to get to work or for a weekend away.

I was thinking estate at first but then thought about how often I've filled my car to the gills, not that often. Now I've managed with the Coupe for the past two years and the boot on that was a bit rubbish, what with the spare tyre standing up on the passenger side. So I figure I should get away with a saloon. Dont really want to have to haul all that extra iron work just so my bike can rattle around in the back once a week.

What I want to know is has anyone with a saloon chucked a couple of bikes in the back? (with the seats down)

Cheers.

I kow you say you'll never fill the estate but you will, you just don't know it yet!

As for two bikes in a saloon - no chance. The boot is caverness but the opening and rear deck is stupid - nothing fits in.

Go for the estate.

Went for the estate in the end, Looked at a number of cars and nevermind it being an estate it was still the better prospect.
