Hi everyone just got back from a dyno run with my Mk5 golf diesel and had an almighty surprise
The readings came out at 166.4 and 168.0 bhp, not bad for a 140 hp model
the guy on the dyno knows whats what and has been doing this for years
The only thing he could come up with as an answer was that vw had made a mistake in setting up the ecu
I didnt think this sort of thing would be possible in the days of high tech but I can only assume that human error is to my advantage
finally does anyone out there know of any similar circumstances and do you think vw would be happy to know that Ive got a SPECIAL EDITION? Or will they admit they have made a mistake?

A 140PS engine, code BKD. Power outputs do vary from one RR to another. Just enjoy it!

Have you had it from new? If not the previous owner could have had it remapped.

Here in Australia, one of the TV car shows put a couple of TSIs on the dyno and found both delivered around 120kW at the wheels (about 160hp).

Extrapolating, that gives it about 140-150kw (190-200hp). The program was loudly poo-pooed by many on the boards here, but I'm facinated by another high reading with a different model in a different country.

I'd love to get a comprehensive set of stock VW figures all from the same dyno (GT, GTI, R32 &c), so we can see whether it's just our collective imaginations or not.

This is very interesting, why not come along to the Remap and Rolling road day on the 4th november and have another run, just incase there were issues with the rolling road session you had?

Many thanks for the invite to the chip n spin day
I did intend to attend this event but the date is no good for me now

I do intend to have another run on a dyno ASAP to help clarify just what the power output is
PS do these dyno runs measure power at the rear wheels or at the crank ?
If at the crank , what loss is there between crank and wheel(s)
