My Passat 2.0 Tdi has the RCD 500 radio/cd. When you get to 40 mph the volume goes up and then reduces when you slow down again.

I find this just bugs me!!:aargh4:I have a left hand that is perfectly capable of adjusting the volume!

Is there anyway to stop it completely?

Thank you in advance.

Yep, in the menu there is something called Gala, turn this setting right down and it wont adjust when you speed up.

Great & thank you. I had no idea what Gala was I'm afraid. Why on earth couldn't they call it something that meant what it meant!!:biglaugh:

Gala - must be a German abreviation or something?!

Maybe its the German for - ' musicwillgetlouderwhenvehiclegoesfaster' I'll ask my Dad, he lives there.

Possibly Geschwindigkeitsabhängiger Lautstärkeanhebung

Now why would you want to disable that? Along with the wipers, which go to intermittent when stopped, I find it one of the little touches I like about the car.

Now it all makes sense!!!
Note to self....don't fiddle with menu on stereo when bored and sitting in traffic on the M25. Gala? I thought at the time What that? Dunno....lets fiddle with the setting and see what happens.

I agree.

The 'Comfort Indicator' in the Menu has nothing whatsoever to do with comfort ! it is in fact a facility on the Menu for the Indicators that can be set for three flashes when the stalk is half pressed when the On is selected and if you don't want it on then you can turn it off by selecting off.

The Menu and the instructions in the manual can be very confusing. In my case I took delivery of mine in October 2007 but the dealer says the ECU software is the latest 2008 version;so there are some differences between what the Menu says and what the Manual says.
