Bonnet release cable broken

Hi all I have an A4 B7. Today I was about to start into cleaning the egr valve and as I went to open the bonnet the handle snapped off. Got to the wire and pulled at it, thinking it would release the bonnet. Then the wore just came through the car. I've been searching the forums for help on how to open the bonnet now with no clear answers. Has anyone actually managed to do this?

Best bet is probably studying a similar model to see if you can see a way to somehow manage to hook the release catch/s from underneath.
