My car has the feature where you move your foot (in a downward motion) under the rear bumper and the boot opens.
Well, I’m off on a business trip for 2 months and have fitted a tailor made ‘Specialised Cover’

The cover fits nicely and has 4 straps under the car – I reached under the rear of the car to fit the final strap and, you’ve guessed it, the boot opened. What a pain, but you have to laugh. – I started again with the keys in the house.

I saw a Jap car on television that had flame throwers underneath that activated when you came too close!

Wasn't that the South African chap who wanted to stop any carjacking ?

I want to know where the cover was purchased from, the price and why specialised.

Every car cover I've tried has scratched/damaged my paintwork in high winds regardless of how clean the car or cover was...or is your car going to be in a garage?

Cover looks smart, also quite a funny story! Are you off anywhere nice?

I'm after a cover for the wife's A5 as the garage leaks and the water leaves white marks on the paint that can only bee removed using a clay kit. I washed and waxed it recently before our annual holiday and now it is covered in white marks. You can feel the raised marks from the dried water with your finger. Mmmmmmm

Ps. Sorry if this hijacks your thread.

I've tried, as have numerous other renters.

The army doesn't see a leaking garage roof as a problem

The cover is a 'Specialised Stormshield Plus - Outdoor Stormshield Car Cover from Specialised Covers (http://www.specialisedcovers.com/car-covers/stormshield-plus-car-cover.html)

I also have a Jaguar XKR which was regularly left for long periods under an outdoor cover (It's now in the garage)

I wouldn't bother with a cover for a few weeks, but I'm often away for months. I do on occasions get small rub marks on the paint but they easily polish out. It's certainly better than leaving bird crap on the paint for weeks!

To minimise paint marks you must have a tailored, well fitted and breathable cover. I got a 5% discount on the cover, because I previously purchased from 'Specialised'

The XKR with its new soft indoor cover...

I work about 9 months per year in Shanghai - Will be back in the UK during October, I'm planning to go to the Singapore F1 in September :-)

Could you put a plastic sheet or a Tarp directly under the garage roof to direct the water away from the car - A damp garage is not a nice environment for a car.

If you go for a cover, even indoors, it must be breathable. I have a dehumidifier in the garage for the XKR it helps to keep the car like-new! - MY08

If left outside I'd simply invest in Carcoon or sommat similar.

I bought one for my old XK last year and was less than £700, no rubbing issues, humidifier built in and no bird mess :)

Forgiven, different way of life, had an office in Sao Paulo and it was a weird cultural change when visiting.
