Get a fault code read done, it’s probably a faulty brake light switch or coolant temperature sender.

Also check that all the brake lights are working. This can make the glow plug light flash.

Hi had this the other week - of course just the evening before we were away for a week so I dropped it into my local garage for a diagnostic. As above it was the brake light switch - about £10-£15)

Hope this is of help

how do you remove the brake light switch

if you look upwards from the brake pedal under the dash there will be one or two swithes there twist the switch ant i clockwise lower it down then remove the connector , fitting is the reverse of removal . make sure it is the right switch if there are two

The problem is not removing the switch, it is fitting the new one without damaging it, they are a simply useless design and that is after at least five revisions in the last few years.

Same problem with my Golf TDI 115.

Mine was two brake light bulbs only - no switch, just the bulbs.

Common fault, changed both brake light bulbs and Bobs your uncle..... cost £1.25 in toto...

Had the same glow plug and "engine workshop" shenanigans myself this morning. Comes on without the engine running (just the ignition in the on position). The brake lights seem to work, although one is slightly dim and has been for a while. Could it also be the brake light switch? Flashing lights always make my stomach turn.

Probably just the switch but change the dim bulb.

Thanks for the info guys, appreciated as always. Just as an update, took it into the garage for a check on the suspension, mechanic took it for a test drive, came back, and no more flashing light:confused::confused: (for now at least). Weird indeed.
