a3 1.6 sport aeh starting issue

hello ! recently i bought an audi a3 1.6 sport p reg (1997) and after 2 days the clutch was gone and the entire engine was covered in oil. so i started to fix it by myself ( saves money) replaced the clutch and cleaned all the parts fitted to the engine. the battery was off more than 1 month and now i have a starting issue. the engine starts but its cut out after 3-5 seconds. and it does this no matter how many times i try. i have no throttle response either. WHAT SHOULD YOU GUYS SUGGEST I DO ? and do not tell me to take it to a garage cause i cant afford that :)) thanks

Do you get a key symbol on the dash? It sounds like the Immobiliser is active and cutting the engine off. Can you try another key to illiminate a key transponder fault?
