Hi folks,

Thought I'd join up as I have just bought an Audi A6 1.8t for my girlfriend :) Not my first VAG motor, I have a mk2 Golf which I've owned for some time, plus I've had a mk2 Scirocco (wish I never sold it!) and an Audi A4.

I have to admit that I'm a bit of a Honda enthusiast in the main, but the A4 was my first car at 17 and the Mk2 Golf my third and both latched on to my heart quite deep and I've never quite shaken the bug for either brand. Getting into the A6 gives me quite a bit nostalgia :D My Girlfriend loves the Audi too, which is lucky as she does 70 miles a day in it! In terms of refinement it's definitely leaps and bounds ahead of the similar aged Civic which it has replaced, and of course a much better car for motorway cruising.

Anyway, pictures are way better than words and I think a person's car tastes say a lot about them, so here's our current stable (judge as you will :p ). I'll chuck in the ones that haven't made it to the present day afterwards.

The A6: As above bought for my girlfriend last weekend. Loving it so far and no major problems yet, touch wood! It's gone down a storm with my girlfriend and I love it too, although I haven't had much chance to drive it!! I would've preferred a V6 model, but with the amount of miles she does it just wouldn't have been practical. To be fair the 1.8t moves the car ok, it doesn't get left behind by traffic. I'm changing the oil and filter at the weekend ( the oil in it looks healthy, but better safe than sorry), and in the next couple of months I'll tackle the timing belt.

'87 Honda Accord GSi: This is my daily. Going by the incredibly patchy DVLA records there's only a couple left about, I picked mine up when I was a salesman for Honda. I absolutely love it and wouldn't swap it for anything. For anyone interested the GSi had a 2 litre 16v DOHC fuel injected lump in it, and due to weighing naff all it moves quite nicely. It's caught a fair few newer cars by surprise :p It's got full electrics, a/c and cruise control amongst other things so it's really not a difficult car to live with as a daily.

'93 Isuzu Bighorn: This is the thunderbird of the fleet, when other stuff breaks it drags it back home :) Great for taking the dogs out, moving car parts (you can get a Euro pallet in it with the rear seats folded, very handy for engines) or lugging stuff around at my parent's farm. I did use this as my daily for a bit but my mum nabbed it a couple of weeks ago for horse duties and it hasn't come back! Shame as it's mega comfy and very laid back to drive.

'01 Honda Civic SE Executive: My girlfriends old daily. A fairly well equipped car, but the engine is knackered - currently up the farm whilst I decide it's fate.

'86 Honda Prelude GSi: Basically the same engine and spec as my Accord, but in a sportier chassis along with some pop up lights for good measure. I changed the clutch and gave it a full service last year but the rear arches and sills are diabolical so it's not going anywhere fast. Locked away in the integral garage at the moment so it can't get worse!

'91 Golf Driver: This is my baby! It's covered roughly 250,000 miles on the carby 1.6 engine, and after far too many hours spent playing with the Pierburg I've put an AGG into it. Just need to finish the wiring and the fuel lines and we should be in business. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it goes with the 2 litre 8v lump in, it was fairly nippy with the 1.6 on a GTi cam.

'92 Honda Prelude Si VTEC: this is a jap import Prelude with the 200PS DOHC VTEC lump in it. Originally bought 'for my girlfriend', hoping that I could nab it for myself, but it turned out she loved this car and it has been hers ever since. Serves me right lol.

'01 Honda Accord SE Executive: My second car, following hot on the heels of my Audi A4. All in all a lovely car with a decent equipment level, but I didn't check the oil level before setting out on a long drive and put a piston rod through the bottom end of the block. It now has a H22A engine in it (same as my imported Prelude), but I haven't done the wiring fully yet (reoccuring theme!). Currently spends its time cluttering up the drive sadly.

And a quick glance at the cars that are gone but not forgotten:

'88 Scirocco Scala: Had this for a while before selling it to a local lad. I see it all the time and it's heart wrenching. I hope one day I can buy it back because it was such a cool car!

'99 Citreon Xsara HDi: The less said about this the better hey?! All I'll say is it was incredibly reliable and cheap to run when I did a very long commute, and it meant I didn't wreck a car I loved as I clocked up the miles.

And I don't have any pictures of my A4 sadly (it's from the time before Facebook and decent camera phones!). It was a black '97 SE though with the n/a 1.8 20v, I bought it off my Dad rather than getting a 1.nothing Corsa/Clio/Fiesta like my mates did. Not the fastest car in the world but at 17 it felt like it and many a memorable time was had. It died of neglect unfortunately as my Dad doesn't believe in servicing and I was clueless about mechanics back then. I'd have another A4 in a heartbeat, albeit I'd prefer a bigger engine this time around.

So there we have it, hope you guys like the pics, and I look forward to being a part of the forum :D
