The last time (March 07) I used my local Audi dealer their labour charge was £102+VAT per hour. This seems excessive to me. Can anyone recommend a good independent garage in this area?

Pete,

You could try Pete Breading - a family-run outfit on the Aviation Way industrial estate. He is ex-Audi, and has business referred to him by the main dealer.

My brother has an A6 and has been pleased with the service from them.

I have just acquired an A4 Avant and had them look at a problem - they couldn't pin-point the exact cause. They didn't charge me anything and said they didn't want to try speculative fixes and waste my money and suggested I get a second opinion from someone else. Which is at least honest.

Hi Paul,

Many thanks. Pete Breading sounds like a good alternative and definitely worth a try.

Our local Audi dealer charged me 30 minutes labour (£51+VAT) just to diagnose the last fault I had.

Pete,

P Breading's didn't charge me when they couldn't pinpoint the fault with my car. That shows an honest approach, which together with their straightforward friendly manner, means I will be going back there.

Btw, they quoted my "around £200" for a cambelt change on my A4 Tdi. Admittedly, that could end up as £299.99, but didn't seem over the top to me.

I used P Breading to replace my nearside dipped headlight bulb as the job looked far too complicated for me to try without causing extra problems. They did it while I waited. Because the mechanic knew exactly what he was doing it only took him about 15 minutes. Furthermore, they only charged me a little over £6 i.e. the cost of the new bulb!
I'm sure my local Audi ******* would have charged me about £70 based on a minimum of half an hour's labour plus £10 for the bulb!

I know where I'm going in future. :beerchug:

Know its a little bit away from Southend but if you didnt mind the journey, this guy is damn good too. Have used them before when I had my S4, vey nice to deal with and a professional service at not too pocket busting money. Specialise in Audi service and have heard reports of people coming from far and wide to them. Worth a shot aswell if something else doesnt work out. :)

Well I used one of these people to do a full service on my car £672 , timming belt, water pump, brake fluid change all filters and any thing else needed. I am not going to name which one but when I start I have a brake warning chime 3 times when I turn on. Also going to gatwick my oil light came on :zx11: less than 6 months after service, went on holiday got a mate to recover the car, I paid AUDI this time as I need the car. Turns out the oil filter was the wrong one way to small, (ARE THEY STUPID I THINK SO) about half the size of what it should be:zx11:. Lucky I never f***** the engine, and they never wanted to know about the light:aargh4::aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:.
Audi come out tops (NOT OFTEN) on this one and was not even charged over £100 to fix my car:D:D:D:D CMON AUDI HERE IS NEEDED:D:D:D:D.

Tony, the motor for my electric roof (A4 cabrioilet) failed yesterday, I hope it's repairable. Southend or Chelmsford are equidistant to me, where would you think better for me to go, please??
Many thanks, mate.

Hi there,

My 55 plate Audi A6 3.0TDI is due for servicing soon.

I've been quoted 210 for oil, oil filter, pollen filter and engine flush by P Breading.

Understand that my car needs 8L of oil?

Do you guys think this is a good price or is this too expensive?

Cheers.
