Hi all, I need help I am on doing my vw polo 1.2 2004 brakes and spring I have fitted my spring and I am now on refitting my caliper I have just come to fit it and the bottom bolt where you bolt it too (strut leg) has no threads and looks it never has when I loosened it they where both tight which I can't understand is there a threaded insert that goes in there and has dropped out because looking at the top it looks like there is hopefully someone can tell me as it has me totally baffled thanks

the thread has stripped in the leg, you will probably find bits of it on the bolt. there is no insert. you either need a new strut, or a helicoil repair to the stripped thread.

But you would of thought I could of seen some of the threads and there isn't anything at all, do u know what size helicoil I need ? Just has me totally baffled because was just normal tight like the top bolt and there isn't any sign of stripping on the bolt and it screws in other 1 just fine , I know these always strip in a lot of cases as I have read

Do u know the size of the helicoil I need mate?

Will this do the job ?Helicoil Type Metric Thread Repair Kit M9 x 1.25 with 1.5 D Thread Inserts, K9-1.25, 04014 | Vcoil (http://www.workshopping.co.uk/product/helicoil-type-metric-thread-repair-kit-m9-x-125-with-15-d-thread-inserts/VCOILK9-1.25/)

Or I can get a whole new leg with bearing and carrier for £50

i would go with the leg. if you put the helicoilin at even slightly the wrong angle, the brakes will bind.
